CASE STUDY · HOSPITALITY
A 500+ Camera Hotel System, Built as One Mixed Order
A hospitality project in North Africa needed full CCTV coverage — guest floors, back-of-house, parking and perimeter — delivered as a single coordinated set of cameras, recorders and PoE switching, not as loose hardware from four suppliers.
The challenge
Hotel coverage fails for a predictable reason: the camera mix is bought in pieces. Interior guest floors need discreet, vandal-resistant domes; the perimeter and service yards need long-range bullets; the lobby and pool deck need PTZ reach. Add recorders and PoE switching and the specification sprawls across vendors, with compatibility and delivery timing as the risk.
A second problem is scale. Several hundred cameras create a real constraint on recorder capacity and PoE port count — get the ratio wrong and the site buys a second round of hardware within a year.
The solution
One mixed solution order built around full-color night vision: 5MP domes for interior coverage, 5MP bullets for the perimeter, PTZ for open areas, 64-channel NVRs for central recording, and a two-tier PoE switch stack to power and backhaul every camera on a single cable.
The camera-to-recorder and camera-to-switch ratios were sized with headroom from day one, so a later wing or phase is a camera add — not a recorder replacement.
Why the buyer stayed
The relationship started with an earlier, much smaller order on a different product line, and the CCTV project came later as an extension of an existing trading relationship rather than a cold purchase. Trust built on the first line carried into a much larger second one.
That is the pattern we see most often with project buyers: they consolidate with a supplier who can answer the whole system question — camera mix, recorder sizing, PoE budget and delivery — in one conversation.
System configuration
Sizing shown as shipped for this project. Your camera mix and channel count will differ — send us the zone list and we size the same table for your site.
| Equipment | Role on site | Qty |
|---|---|---|
| 5MP Bullet Cameras | Outdoor perimeter, entrance roads, service yards | 100+ |
| 5MP Dome Cameras | Guest floors, corridors, back-of-house | 350+ |
| 10-inch 5MP PTZ Cameras | Lobby, pool deck and parking overview | 2 |
| 64-Channel NVR, 8-Bay | Central recording and remote review | 10 |
| 24-Port Gigabit PoE Switches | Floor-level camera aggregation | 18 |
| 8/16-Port PoE Switches | Smaller zones and distribution closets | 8 |
- 10 × 64-channel NVRs give 640 channels of capacity against 483 cameras — roughly 25% headroom for later phases.
- 528 PoE ports across the switch stack against 483 cameras — every camera powered and backhauled on one cable.
- Dome-to-bullet ratio follows the site: interior guest floors dominate, bullets cover the perimeter.
- Mixed-order, no-MOQ solution build: cameras, recorders, switches and accessories shipped as one project set.
What this means for your project
Size the recorder before the cameras
Channel capacity should exceed camera count by 20-30% so a later phase does not force a recorder swap.
Count PoE ports, not just cameras
Every camera needs a powered port plus uplink headroom. Undersize the switch stack and the install stalls at commissioning.
Buy the project as one set
Mixed orders with no MOQ keep the camera mix, recorder and switching aligned — and shipping in one batch keeps the install schedule intact.
